That's a good tip. Thanks. If I were to do this, I'd try to find one main load that doesn't occupy the entire trailer, and then look for LTL to fill out the rest (say, the upper deck and the rear of the lower deck).

3 1/2 years is tougher than the 2 1/2 I thought it was. It's still better than getting sucked in even deeper though.

I don't even haul paying freight, in fact I get paid to remove the "freight" from the customer's property, but if I were to go OTR tomorrow I'd buy a 53' Tridem step with those Ramps/levelers those things look awesome.

and honestly, the price for the top of the line ones, with the rails and holders is under $4000. I think that's a great deal for all the use you could get out of them.

I've been driving in Alberta and Sasketchewan in Western Canada and probably 90% of all flat and step trailers on the road here are tridems. The other 10% have either 61" or 72" short spread tandems. I asked GE Capital and we can do the trade-up deal with a used traler and he wrote back, "That would be a different deal entirely. I would have to submit another formal request to our credit department. Please let me know when you've decided on the asset that you will be acquiring and I'll submit an application."

I can almost gaurantee you the tridems almost never leave canada, probably 95% of them stay in Canada. We have two guys here with tridem steps that travel stateside but they tare in around 36,000 lbs. Our company tridem flat 53's weigh in around 15.5k and they always stay in Canada. You can slide the whole tridem on them.
