Before 1995 Grand Forks was known as Great Falls. I like 'Great Falls' better. Sorry for the confusion.

Step Deck Trailer Ramps & Load Levelers
That's what I would do of course I'm just a silly company driver. I would think a step with levellers and ramps would be very versitale I think he is sold on the idea of a new trailer whether flat, rgn, or DD he needs a new trailer in his mind. Hell I want a new trailer too but I was thinking 7'wX16l'L with rear and curb gate but I have a 24' car trailer and wouldn't use the small trailer enough. My point is you Ned to think things through and plan instead of react. Slow down and think things out do you really NEED a new trailer.

Are you going to be happy with flat?

How long are you going to hols on to this trailer before you want a rgn, DD, 53' step, 48' step?

Have you considered renting a 48 ft flat for say thirty days?

Anyway you cut it you would save money with paid for equipment!

Rent a company flat for a few weeks, about 160 a week, give it a try, no long term obligation and you can see if it makes more money. You need to put a piece of LTL on going to Canada, one or two a month would pay for your trailer.

I suggested he rent one from Landstar while ago. Didnt like the idea of 2 trailer payments.

If LTL is the key to squeezing more money out of every mile on the way back to Canada, what do you think the best trailer for that purpose would be? Something long and light?

The most money in LTL would be made with a step deck and a side kit but that is a whole different argument.

The step would be the best. Grab a LTL crate going to ONTARIO. Sure it only pays maybe $200-300, but it would help cover deadhead, your trailer payment, and wouldn't weigh much and could sit up top.
