Default Thinking about getting back in the saddle.

Whew! Its been a loooong time since I have been on here. Quit OTR back in 2008 and have been local ever since. Dump trucks, stepdeck (hauling pre-fab walls to residential sites), food service (reefer pups), concrete mixers, pump trucks, and now am driving a propane truck. I got the itch to get my own truck again and was wondering if things have got better or worse? My father passed away and left me his house. Its not worth much and is in need of a lot of repairs, but I can get probably 50 or 60k out of it. I have a house and dont need it. Is it worth getting into with a paid for truck and trailer... or are the rates still in the crapper?

Rigidsporty;
There are folks on this site! Rates are surely much lower than 2014, but are slowly working upward. Having a paid off vehicle surely increases the odds for your success.
Thanks,

I say no it isnt worth it.........
Things are changin fast for independents, and the elog rule will be the topping on the cake........if it isnt that the insurance rates will rise, right now new entry insurance is around $15,000 a year
Rates are still down, and will probably stay flat for at least a year
Persoally the govt wants to elimainate independents, too hard to track us and keep us under control..........thats why elogs....no other reason to use them, IMO

If you have a decent local job, I would say keep it
Just my 2 cents

Sorry rigidsporty, I saw your post the day you made it, and should have at least said Howdy and welcome back!

Stay local, and don't spend your money on a rig. It's because I care about you. Seriously... nice to hear from you again.

Some were not here. The lack of response= Don't want you give away your inheritance. You probably already have. I hope not.
