The guys at Turbo are top notch, I've dealt with them some years back.

Their "sales pitch" is simple.....if you don't get 10% better mileage, you get your money back...that's fair enough to me.

I'm glad to hear this endorsement, partssman.

I think the marketing is part of the problem, though. Leading people to think they'll get 10% raises unrealistic expectations. I think the truth is, if it does work, guys need to realize it's money even if they only pick up 2/10 mpg. The only way to gauge that is to have a really, really good handle on your numbers.

The money back guarantee has it's caveats. I don't know what they all are, but the little device itself was about $220, but there were also about $5 worth of parts they call an installation kit that sells for $40, plus an hour of labor to do 15 minutes worth of work. There's a certain time window for having it removed, to early or too late and you don't get the money back. I think there are aspects of the marketing that make everyone smell a rat even if it actually works

About the tires, I often pull large pieces of metal out of my drives, I don't know why I don't get it in the steers. I mean, literally, I once spent a couple of hours pulling a wrench that had been ground into a pungee stick out of a drive tire- never broke the cord.

I do have a couple concerns about putting steers in the drive position. But, I'm hearing a half mile per gallon, that could be $500 per month in fuel savings.

You're welcome on the endorsement.

I had them send me one no charge to try on a company truck when I worked for MGM and we put it on, done everything they said it would except the mileage never would come up. Took it off and sent it back and they called and said whoever installed it used teflon tape and tape had gotten into the "guts" of it is why it failed. Never could get the Shop Manager to give the o.k. for another test.

These guys could get their company to call and probably get the same deal on a test. Call Andy and ask him, all he can say is no.

One of our drivers has one on a Mack and swears by it. I plan to add one to my Freightliner as soon as I get some breakdown money squirreled back. I believe they're worth the investment. Just my 2 cents.

I read the installation sheet on their website and it says use thread sealer NOT TEFLON TAPE

Update. Engine idling a little rough, it has kind of a helicopter sound to it. (any ideas?)

Second fill up, worst mpg for which I have a record. I was traveling into wind part of the way.

I'm just reporting my experience with this thing, I'm not trying to make myself look good. Without knowing myself whether or not there could be any possibility that the mechanical explanation has merits, I agree with everyone else that it surely sounded like snakeoil. My instincts told me Kevin's reputation is too valuable and more to the point, that he actually wants to help people as he makes his own do re mi, my instincts told me he wouldn't endorse it like that if he didn't believe it. For me, the jury is out. I understand that the jury was in a long time ago for many people.

Teflon tape! Andy strikes again!

So how does teflon tape interfere with two small pieces of aluminum again?

The tape didn't allow the fuel to atomize properly I reckon, hell call Andy and ask him
