Ha! I stayed in Georgia and I think I just found a load going home. I'm going to buy a nice little rust free 10 year old southern car and take it home in my truck. I just paid of the car I bought new 3 years ago because I decided to sell it. I'll never own another new car. It's too heartbreaking what people do to it in parking lots. Craigslist is showing some good deals!

Anybody ever do that? Buy a southern car and bring it home in your truck.

I knew I'd run into some scammers trying to get a good deal on a used car but it's tons worse than I thought. It's a veritable cesspool out there. I've reached the point where I don't say "I'm calling about the Civic you have for sale". Nope, that's dumb. Much better is to say "vehicle". And then the scammers have to ask "which one?". lol And then there's the cars that have been repainted. And then there's the robo-ads for cars that don't even exist. When you email them the reply tells a tall tale and says "We'll ask you to send a small deposit and we'll deliver the car to your door in 3 days or less".

I'm discovering how naive I am. I hope I find a load soon, I'd rather deal with brokers.

Well my sorry little saga is over. I pick up a sorry little load in Marietta in the morning going to western Michigan. It pays $1/mile but it's better than deadheading.

That's the way it works. 3 weeks ago was the end of the 3rd quarter and the manufacturer's want those goods off the books. Then there is a vacuum the 1st part of the new quarter.

I've never done that But I have driven to Atlanta just to bring back a p/u truck. When I was in the auto body biz. we had guys that brought pick up truck loads of parts up to NY to sell to local junk yards. We also had a place called the Tank Bank that sold used gas tanks and bought them by the truck load. Another place called the Door Store that sold.... DOORS! Ever think about talking with some of your local used part places? If you could hook up with a couple and plan on bringing back say a hundred used car doors it would make for a good back haul. But stay away from the gas tanks , they'll stink up your truck real bad!
