Where exactly are you getting this erroneous information from?
Give me the name of the carrier that pays new drivers with no experience $4-6K/mo.
Well, now you're changing the subject. You want to compare an independent's income to a company driver's income, rather than comparing an independent's income to a leased O/O's income. Why don't you try comparing apples to apples, instead of apples to oranges?

Besides - most independents don't earn $4K - $6K a month anyway.

Show me where a new driver with no experience makes $4-6K/mo leased to a carrier.
Show me where a new driver with no experience makes $4-6K/mo working for a carrier as a company driver.
A brand new independant who drives 8000 mi/mo with costs of $1.30/mi and getting a rate of $1.80/mi make $4k a month.

Which is why a lot of newbie drivers would probably be better off buying a trucka and trailer and running under their own authority. Most companies don't pay new trainees anything worth considering.

It doesn't matter whether you lease to a carrier or run your own authority. If all you get from owning your own truck is drivers wages, you are better off driving a company truck. There are a lot of people running their own authority who are barely getting driver wages. There are some owner operators who lease to carriers who are doing very well for themselves. I have a friend who averages from $4,000-6,000+/week leasing to a carrier and he is home most weekends. I spoke with him a couple of days ago and he received $3/mile on at least one load going into Canada this week. That was after his carrier got their cut. After a bumpy start, he is doing very well. Most of his loads are over $2/mile for ALL miles. There are some who are leased to carriers who are getting less than $1/mile plus fsc.
Is your friend a newbie driver? New drivers with no experience do not make $4-6k/mo unless they run under their own authority. Most carriers will not employ a new driver without experience and those who will employ drivers with no experience pay a miserable wage.

My friend has been an owner operator for at least 10 years or so. But if you lease to the right carrier the potential is there. Most won't do over $6,000/week, but they could do over $4,000. Keep in mind that he doesn't do over $6,000 every week. I believe most weeks he does around $4-4,500. He had a bumpy start with his carrier, but is now doing very well for himself. I would think that most new owners who get their authority are not doing that well, either. At least without any experience. Just because someone runs their authority doesn't mean that they are making more than someone who leases to a carrier. There are some who are likely doing much better leasing on than they would running their authority.

Why should I bother? You'll just claim it to be incorrect anyway.

Show me where a brand new independent gets $1.80 per mile guaranteed.

I believe some have posted that TMC pays new drivers about $1/week. Of course, most won't earn that much.

The reason you won't "bother" is because you can't. No one pays new drivers with no experience $1000-$1500/wk.

Independants are not "guaranteed" anything. You make your own way and earn what you want. My father is making over $1000/week every week since he started as a new driver with no experience about 3 months ago.

 if you say so.

Great. Your point?

I highly doubt that. $1000 / week to an independent who hasn't paid a lick of taxes yet.

There are a couple who have posted recently on the TMC thread. They say they are making substancially less than $1000/wk. One says he has to run illegal 3/5 days to make $850/wk. I think both of those drivers are experienced though.

The TMC site says a new driver trainee (eight weeks) makes $2700.

Well, you'd be wrong (once again) on that point, because I never said there are.
