I have 8x 1/2">5' and that gives me more than I'll ever need. I prefer short chains
15' of 1/2 inch chain>you'll need 4 men and a small boy to lug that around! If you don't need the length then 8' or 10' will be plenty and shorter if you can make do! Those 1/2" chains are very heavy @ the end of a long day.

I carry (4) 25' 1/2" Chains Grade 70, (2) 6' 1/2" G70, (10) 25' 3/8" G70, (4) 6' 3/8" G70, (4) 25' 3/8" G100, and I carry 20 ratchet binders and aprox. 5 snap binders. I would rather have more than enough versus getting somewhere and realizing I don't have what I need. To me the longer the chain the better I would rather half to tie up some chain then not be able to get chains where I want them. Oh almost forgot. Get some ratchet straps. Know telling what you may where those would work better than a chain.

It boils down to your securement requirements. I would get a mixture of 3/8 and 1/2 chain. Grade depends on the tie downs you're using. I would look at those SCC quikbinders, and upgrade the grade on the chain if there's room for it in the rating of the quikbinder. If there's no room then there's no point.

I carry 8x12 foot 1/2 inch chains with a slip hook on one end. 4x15 foot 3/8 chains and 2x20 foot 5/16 chains. All grade 8/80. The 5/16th chains are handy for side steadying booms etc. 12 1/2 inch ratchet binders and 6 3/8 / 5/16 binders. Some 4 inch straps and a couple of 2 inch straps. Can hold down just about anything they can load on 13 axle rig.
