What is the Point of Having Too Many Tractor & Trailer Lights???
Is it:
(a) a case of "monkey see, monkey do"? or (b) the driver has OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder)? or (c) the driver is too skeer'd at night to drive without them? :jump:

It just give the D.O.T. more chances to give you a ticket when a light or two doesn't work. :smokin:

Maybe some drivers just like the way they look on their truck. I would probably add lights if I had my own truck. I added air cleaner lights to my company truck when I went local to use up my truck stop points and to distinguish my truck from the other company trucks so people would know it was me. Does it bother you when drivers add extra lights ?

P.S. just for the record, I like extra lights (but not too many)... :smokin:

I'm the same way. I like maybe some air cleaner lights, lights along the bottom of the cab and sleeper and then maybe some lights down the sides of the trailer top and bottom spaced out maybe 4 or 5 feet

I had a lot of lights on my Peterbilt. I still like a lot of lights, but won't put them on any of my trucks. Running in snow with all the chemicals they put on the roads can be hard on wiring. Unless you really stay on top of your inspections you could get a ticket for a light being out. It can also be expensive adding a lot of lights, especially if they are LED. One benefit of having a lot of lights is that other drivers can easily see you in a parking lot. They are not as likely to run into you when you are well illuminated.

I love lights. Nothing cooler than seeing a half dozen cow trucks, rollin down the highway at night.
I say the more the prettier.

the d.o.t. can & will write you up for any light that is on your truck that does not work. could be noon on a hot summer day. does not matter if any light is out when he checks, you can get a writer up. I got one years ago. I never put more than comes on the equip. everything has to go out sometime. you never know when a light will fail to work. lately the d.o.t. is not giving any slack for any reason. the states need the money.
