Football season!

I forgot to ask...
What's with Cam Newton??? There are so many stories and stuff I can't keep up. They don't exactly use layman's terms either. So, he went to Florida, and left, and then went to a Jr college, and left for Miss State and now he's at Auburn? Is there a law against that, or am I missing something? He owes like $200 some odd thousand dollars or something? What's with that? ~edit~ Jason Garrett is the big man in charge now in Dallas. Wade is gone. I still don't know what to think about that. I'm not sure if Garrett would be any better. I think Jerry Jones should go after Mike Leach.  Yes, I am heart broken, upset, mad enough to set my house on fire on how this season is going for the Cowboys. I never dreamed they would be this deep in their own junk. I can't believe it! The season is over. :tears: "Supposedly", Newton's father told Mississippi State, that a "scholorship only" wasn't good enought for his son. He wanted $200,000 dollars for his son to sign a letter of intent. Mississippi State declined and Cam ended up going to Auburn. I guess their are a couple of recruiters or something at MSU that brought this to light. Of course the Newton's are denying all of this, but that is the Jist of what is going on. As far as Dallas goes, I'm probably the wrong person to make any comments on what is going on there because I despise Jerry Jones. He's getting what he deserves, IMHO. Everybody around here are Cowboy fans, not me. I've been a Dolphins fan since I can remember but have been soured, as being a fan, by the "new" ownership there. I've pretty much given up on the NFL, especially with the impending strike/lockout coming next year. The college game brings SO much more, IMHO. Don't want to get off on a rant, just my .02 worth.

The whole Cam Newton deal is really screwy and it's getting worse just about daily. Part of me wishes Chizik would shut his trap and bench him until everytihng is taken care of. The other part says to heck with it, let him play because even if he is ruled ineligible now, your season is already shot, what's 2 or 3 wins in these final few games going to mean if they take the previous wins all away? You will just be like 3-9 on the year then and still not going to a Bowl. I really do wish Chizik would still shut his trap though and take this stuff seriously. Miss St reported this a year ago, they have done nothing wrong and did nothing wrong in simply reporting it. The NCAA has now been pressed to investigate it but nobody seems to know who is pressing them, maybe they themselves feel they have gathered enough evidence to start pressing the issue a bit. It does seem a bit odd that his father is a pastor and the church is rather poor per his father's own statements to the media recently. Turns out, the city it's in was after them to bring some items up to code or be shut down, his father fought the city over it for a while and then suddenly out of the blue in the last year the church was up to code and looks great. Nobody knows where the money came from to suddenly stop fighting and instead bring it up to code which is why this whole "pay to play" deal that Miss St reported has legs to it. While Auburn may not have payed the money that Miss St was asked to pay, it is possible a booster paid it in Auburn's name. It makes Cam Newton ineligible for receiving benefits and opens Auburn up to be punished severely, loss of scholarships, postseason bans, loss of recruiting opportunities or possibly the worst of all, the death penalty. Google SMU Football to learn how bad that is. Newton's father was not who told Miss St the pay for play deal, it was a former Miss St player who has turned agent who called his alma mater up with a "sweet deal" to land Newton. This agent said that per Newton's father, anyone who wanted his son would have to pay some money to them.
The academic scandal may mean nothing at all but then again it could add a whole nother problem. If he was cheating at Florida what's to say he isn't cheating at Auburn? UNC lost players this year for cheating due to a tutor so the same should be done to Auburn if it's true, the NCAA needs to follow up on it, once a cheater always a cheater. I'm not sure what's going to happen to Newton. They're really not saying. Or atleast, I haven't heard. It all sounds crazy to me. If anything, they will probably wait til their bowl game, and then suspend him.

The post season for Texas high school football started this week.
Iowa Park, one of the area towns here played Brownwood, which is west of Ft Worth, last night. Brownwood is top-ranked in 3A. Brownwood beat Iowa Park, 88-24. :hellno: Jaxon Shipley, is Jordon's brother. I believe their dad is the coach. 1standTRN High School Football : TimesRecordNews.Com 88-24. I've never heard of a score like that in 11-man. We have a lot of 6-man schools in the area, and they can have some high scores, but I have not ever heard of a score this high! :hellno:

My Senior year in High School in our last regular season game we hung 55 on the opposing team in the 1st quarter. We were on pace to hit 200 with ease while shutting them out. They had negative 60 yards after the 1st. Ended up winning 62-14, pulled all our starters when the 1st quarter ended, they ended up scoring 14 on our backups with their starters before the backups settled down and played some ball. We have some around here normally early in the year where teams hit 80 and 90, worst score I have seen was a 96-10 and it's all 11 man teams in this area.

That's crazy. Myself, I've never heard of a score that high. High school, that is.
My dad called me last night, and told me what the final was when they announced it on the 10:00 news. I figured he saw a basketball score.

Speaking of high scores, how about the Wisconsin score yesterday? 83-20, they scored as many points yesterday as their basketball team scored last year against Indiana's basketball team in a game on the 13th of Feb. Yesterday they hung 83 points on Indiana's football team in a game on the 13th of Nov........eerie
Shocking what Oregon went thru last night. I think Washington St may have given everyone a defensive playbook on how to stop them a few weeks ago. Cal completely shut them down on offense, they only had 1 TD. You need a D that is athletic who's willing to pin their ears back. Cal knocked Thomas around all night and caused turnovers. They flew to the ball as a group and really, Thomas was not selling the fakes very well last night. He never fooled the camera operators which means he wasn't fooling the D. Oregon was lucky to escape with the W due to a missed FG by Cal to start the 4th.

Mr. Ford, I saw the Wisconsin score at the bottom of the screen, when the scores were scrolling. I thought it was basketball, but it had the 'F' by NCAA. I was like, :hellno:
I think Oregon's offense got exposed. I think Cal figured some things out, and it worked. They just didn't get the win. TCU struggled. I watched some of that. What about Oregon? Yall think the Beavers will knock off the Ducks this year? Yall think Bama will beat Auburn? What would happen if the Ducks lost, and Auburn lost? TCU and Boise going in??? :hellno: I have a feeling that it's gonna get interesting.

How bout them Cowboys!!
Maybe the coaching change, made a change?? I never dreamed they would have gone up to NY and beaten the Giants. It blew my mind.

If Auburn and Oregon both lose late, it's possible TCU and Boise play for the NC. Boise still has to visit Nevada who is flying back up the polls real fast after their untimely loss to Hawaii. Nevada is not that bad of a team, they crushed a Cal team that had their #1 QB earlier this year. Oregon barely beat the same Cal team minus their #1 QB. One or both could also be leapfrogged by a 1 loss team still.
I would be worried if Auburn lost to Bama, they could still sneak in over TCU and Boise. Auburn still has the SEC title game to redeem themselves and get back in the picture if they destroy what looks to be South Carolina from the East. Bad news is, the Riverboat Gambler is sitting at #5 just waiting to pounce on all the teams in front of them if someone loses just like LSU did in 2007. LSU is very close to both Boise and TCU in the BCS, too close for comfort. Oregon cannot afford to lose, they have no conference title game to redeem themselves yet. Oregon gets Arizona this week who didn't look to hot against Stanford or USC. Could be a shocker though, Washington St nearly pulled one on Oregon then Cal came close also, Oregon is playing with fire here lately. Could their high octane, track meet of an Offense be running out of steam? Their D is amazing but they have to be getting worn out by now also. They are hardly getting a break before having to get back out on the field, it will take its toll eventually here at the end of the regular season. |
