2008 Shaffer-Heartland CHRONICLES

TF, I haven't seen you for a while and (can I say it?) just may have been a bit worried with all of the flooding out your way. I was stunned when I saw news reports from Cedar Rapids, CRST coolie central, my alma mater.
I hope that you and the family are well. There are some posters floundering on some other threads that need you desperately. Regards.

I was on vacation last week...spent some time up in SW Michigan...got kicked out when we were blamed for bringing the bad weather up there with us. Now THAT was a storm. I can't cut a break from bad weather.
We're fine, though. Our house is on high ground...but Cedar Rapids and Iowa City got hammered overall. I've got some pretty wild pictures of the damage here in IC. I've never seen anything like it...very sad. But Iowan's are resilient. Most have their houses gutted already and are waiting for the OK to rebuild. Government moves slowly, no matter where you are.

Week#3
Mountain Home, Ar- Hope Mills, NC paid 886 ( balance of 1274 HHG miles on trip Winfield, Ks-Hope Mills, NC) next load is am Reaford, NC- Carlisle, Pa DH- 22 LM- 440 del Wednesday 6am running total for week- 1348 w/ 3 days until next Saturday morning Cartoons.--- Fleet Manager has me down for $75.00 Heartland Cares Money so I'm betting he'll try hard to get me over the 2800 mile mark-- hay, that's A.O.K. with me. I'm neutral in my desire to be home next weekend-- really need to turn some miles & expire 70 hours before hitting the house-- what point is it -- to be home with no money n hand-- especially when I found all the mechanic shops closed on Saturday-- need to get my Bronco into a shop and have a compression "leak down" test ran on it--- and make the decision to rebuild or not.

Yeah, I hope this works out too-- Roy turned in his truck today-- now there's only 3 out of 4 of us from that Orientation. |
