2008 Shaffer-Heartland CHRONICLES

Hey Drew, is there any truth to that rumor that Warner trucks will automatically shut down -- if you go over your 11 or 14 or 70? Leave you dead on the side of the road?
I just couldn't work any place like that-- the logging for you is nice and never having to do that work and all- Does Warner pay HHG or Practical? If a driver sticks around Werner long enough and proves reliablility, minor violations (15-30mins) on the 14, or (15mins) on the 11, the violation may be "overlooked". As long as it is not a repeat offense, in a short period of time. That is just my speculation from working for them for over 6 years. I have heard that rumor many times...and cant believe that it still floats around. Think of the safety issue if a driver ran out of hours while driving, and the truck suddenly "shuts down".

Hey Headborg,
I'm in your neck of the woods tonight, I had to pickup a brokered load out of Dothan, AL and drop it in our Memphis yard. Turns out it was a Heartland load that didn't get covered and Crete picked it up (how's that for turning the tables). Must have payed good because they deadheaded me 200+ miles to pick it up. It's headed up to St. Louis but doesn't deliver till Tuesday so the company had me Tcall it here. Sittin' in the Pilot on Hwy 78 and will be picking up a load in the morning going to Columbus. I don't imagine you want to hear this, but it looks like another 3600 mile week  As far as the Transflow thing goes, can't you get a scanner in your truck and email it to Transflow like I do here at Crete. That way you don't have to hunt down a truck stop at the last minute.

Over a year, that's about 15,000 uncompensated miles. Meaning you drive a whole month out of every year for FREE.

I'm home, for 34 hours this weekend- but got to leave out Sunday night- run all night to be in Danville, IL -- 5am Monday. As for the scanner in my truck-- well that would mean either an Inverter to power the copier/printer/scanner or buy one of those mini portable document scanners I saw ($200.00) powers from USB off laptop. But it wouldn't do any good-- I checked to see if Heartland was registered with Transflow Now! the software that we/you use there at Crete--- nope, guess they too 'economical' to set that up. Besides, remember- Heartland drivers must drive 'in the stone age' without inverters or fancy electronic tools/toys. And our transflow cut off isn't Friday Mid-night( actually isn't any real dead line) as it's suppose to be 'on the honor system' But I'm keeping my Transflow Now! software on my computers just in case-- maybe someday I'll be working for a company that signs up for that -- feature/service provided by them.

I was going to wait until Friday when this week was finished, as it must mostly hometime... but, since you were kind enough to visit my thread for your 7th total post-- I'm just going to consider you a TROLL. Looking to start something. week#9 Well, this week started at Midnight Friday( Saturday Morning 00:01) as I was ran out of hours in Muskogee. I finished up/ relayed the load into Ft. Smith then ran to shipper at 2am picked up load and headed home-- 6am I shut down at Marble, Ar T/S for a nap to get me in home safely-- slept from 6am to 9:30 and arrived home at 11am. Had to leave out of house at 4pm Sunday to make the 9 hour run into Danville, IL by 5am Monday Morning-- so I got 29hrs at home Sat-Sunday, Then reloaded in Danville headed back through the house to Grand Prairie, Tx. Got home Tuesday morning 12:45am and left out 2:45pm Wednesday Afternoon( got my 34hour restart). 38 hours+ 29= 67 hours at home this week. 1516 paid miles so far this week. |
