This one, so far I've found out-- the seat isn't broken, and the fuel gauge works! Haven't tested the cruise yet. But the last driver--- used the windshield as a note pad-- sharpe notes all over the glass + he/she stuck happy face stickers all over the place-- it looked like a clown car. So far I haven't had to beat on the dash to get the radio connection to the speakers to work-- so that's a plus. It has some minor body damage, a headlight out, and the front drive axle is all steer tires-- which will need to be replaced in AM when the shop-- finally gets me through the inspection bay.

The reason I posted the picture was-- to ask if anyone here believes-- She could have hit a solid concrete wall-- without wiping out either the right or left headlight and edges of her front end. See, this was the only in-consistence in her statement to the police and mine-- She told them she hit the wall- first-- then careened out in front of me-- that wasn't what actually happened--- I told the police-- she "might" have hit the wall-- but I didn't recall it-- But, I gave them my statement before actually looking at her car or getting the chance to take those pictures... I thought, I hit her front passenger fender-- and that's where I told them I hit her-- because I remembered "spinning her" back around facing forward-- and watched in horror brushing by her( narrowly missing my driver side of cab) and knew she right there along side me--and couldn't cut back left to stay on the road-- for 60 feet or so- without running over her with my trailer- didn't help either that the road bent gently back left right there---- I ran out of pavement! then after looking at the pictures of where she ended up-- dead even with my rig-- I know now I must have pushed her just hard enough and sent her right along a course that paralleled mine.

She could have hit the jersey wall but they are designed so the wheels will hit it first. So it's possible she could have had enough force for the wheels to slide up and hit the jersey wall. But if you hit her you did it soft enough to cause very little damage. You sure receive credit for risking injury and harm to save the life of someone else. I never knew a rig in rain created pressure around it. :shock: Then again I never gave it much thought but I think she was just going fast for the conditions and when she changed lanes lost traction and spun out infront of you.

technically-- it's not actually a full roll over-- the ground isn't level/flat and I didn't lay it over a full 90 degrees- just 45 degrees down this ditch--- the only damage to the trailer was a broken tail marker light.

I didn't see that last picture originally. After seeing that she didn't hit the jersey wall. If you look really closely the driver side of the bumper is bent where you made contact with the ladies vehicle. One thing I learned from watching crime shows and shows where they recreate accidents you learn to look at every single detail. I still stick to my originally statement that she was driving too fast for the conditions!

but she wasn't changing lanes-- she was just passing me in the far left lane, I was in the center lane of 3-- she got about 3 seconds past me( was about 65 feet ahead in that time)-- about a truck length ahead( still in her lane) started to fish tail just once-- and that was it-- Yeah, I told the police I couldn't recall-- she might have run up on the wall-- but it happened soo fast-- I remember a quick fish tail- then her ass end just started around to the right-- she slide right in my lane ass end first-- and was face on with me. still hyro-planing but of course--suddenly lost most of her forward velocity in the spin-out. I keep going over and over it--- Monday Morning Quarterbacking it myself. A Monday morning quarterback-- can easily say-- each and every time a car passes you in the rain or slick conditions-- you should start to slow down. But, what if-- you're the slowest moving vehicle on the road-- and are being passed by everyone? eventually, you'd be PARKED. It had been raining all the way from Orange, Tx- Mobile, AL that day-- that was a lot of cars passing me. well, yeah-- I understand what he ( the police was talking) but-- yeah, I too never really gave it much thought. It's not just "in rain"-- we all know trucks are NOT very aero-dynamic- when we're pushing through AIR not just rain-- we're "displacing" a lot of air-- that's the same principle as why race cars--draft each other. Because directly behind us is a pocket or vacuum. Imagine, a ski boat-- the "wake" that it leaves behind it---- ever like riding jet ski across these "waves"---- same thing, as a car comes up along side a big rig-- fighting against this air mass that's bending around a large rig-- it's requiring more horsepower to break through that "wave" or pressure wall--- as soon as it does--- the tires are no longer fighting so hard--- but if it's slick-- they could easily loose traction( like an acceleration skid) |
