I say interesting, because I made very little noise(there) the previous Friday when they "ruled" that tire as "acceptable". I just noted it on my Inspection Form-- had the shop foreman sign off-- then checked- the defects need not be corrected for safe operation of vehicle( which was actually the job of the signing mechanic) then noted in remarks that IMO no repairs had actually been performed- which of course, once again placed "the monkey" back on my back-- as I drove the vehicle off the yard anyway--- but again, between the rock and hard place-- you do what's the cheapest on the personal finances. I was more than content just to lurk on this site until someone basically told you - I know who you are. That was too much. Not that you asked and for what its worth, I think you should just "gut it out" at Heartland. At least until you are absolutely sure of your direction. I'm not telling you anything new-but these job changes are expensive and generally a lateral move with a different hierarchy of values (hometime, pay, equipment) and BS. back to lurking I go

Week#14:
2124 paid miles with only 17-hours at home! Week#15 begins: loading out of Joplin, Mo at 14:00 Friday get to take it through house for home time,--- 187 miles from Joplin-Home but must deliver Opelika, AL Noon Sunday 552 miles from home-opelika assuming 1hr to load, 3.5hrs home home 6:30??? pm if one was crazy enough/ make that Dangerous enough to leave home at midnight and drive straight through to Opelika for Noon sunday-- one would have 29 hours at home! worse part about it is-- here at Heartland there isn't any x's or o's or y's in the computer-- like JBHunt denoting days worked, days off, yard days, etc-- so basically there's no IOU's-- there's no system to accumulate earned time off-- you either get it(take it)-- or they keep you out running until you decide to drop off their truck when you've had enough.

HB have you ever considered anything local, or is that just not your thing?

Mountain Home, Ar Population- 11,012 the only local around there-- is Guy King Gravel & ready mix they start at $7.50 per hour-- but have a "waiting list" a mile long. Baxter Labs a.k.a. Allegience Health Care-- maybe a "yard jocky" position--again long waiting list. Hiland Dairy?---- no thanks there are always 2 US Foodservice trucks parked in Gassville, Ar- so, If I knew the right channels-- the right phone numbers-- who to call-- but last time I tried calling them( Tulsa, OK)--- they had no idea about any dedicated lanes or relays to/from/through there.... go figure. Probably a "Bid" type position anyway. And, not sure I like driving a Hand Truck up & down those ramps all day either unless the $$$ was good. Anyone know of any Dedicated Runs through Mountain Home, Ar????

first thanks Twilight for the link yes , I noticed they had a opening in the Little Rock area for a driver-- but the deadline for applications was Sept 15th. I also noticed the part about--- must be able to lift 100lbs repeatedly and the running of hand truck( dolly ) up and down the ramp all day-- etc...etc.. etc.. Still, there are 2 pups+ two day cab tractors setting over there.... course those drivers certainly wouldn't want someone -- trying to squeeze into their gig.

I talk to US Food Service drivers, and to a bit lesser extent Sysco drivers, on a fairly regular basis. All of them say pretty much the same thing - the money and hometime are great, but it's very hard work and after a while, it will ruin a guy's body.
