Please keep the thread going, if not we will try to maintain anyway! Iceman's Wife  One thing that is very appealing to us about JJ Williams is that it is based out of Spokane Washington and that is very close to us. That would mean more home time. I will more than likely begin a new thread when my husband has new employment. But you May Company drivers are welcome to keep this thread updated. Goin Fer It's Wife

Well yesterday I picked my husband up at the bus terminal. May did get him a cab and paid for his bus ticket. They did not leave him stranded as some companies do. We are thankful for that!
One would expect that someone who just was terminated and on a bus for 15 hours would look a bit sullen. When my husband saw me there was a BIG SMILE on his face. He was very happy to see and be home and see the children. I agree with Icemans wife. Home-time is not good with May Trucking. But we knew that going in and would have dealt with it. In a sense I think this will work out in the end for the best. The children really did need to see their dad more than 3 days every 5-7 weeks. And May Trucking did not have any runs in my husbands time with them that came through our way. We went down and spoke with the Director of the School. He said he would call Systems on behalf of my husband but he was unsure whether they could hire my husband or not because of the insurance policy. He said my husband is no way out of a trucking career. He said that if anything he would have to go with a smaller company. He said there are allot of good smaller companies around. He gave my husband a lead on another job. My husband will call this morning and check it out. It would not have the monetary potential that some otr jobs would have but it would work if everything lines up. It would be a dedicated team route. Four on Three off. I have made the decision that I will more than likely file Chapter 7. In two weeks we will be in trouble. And I can not handle the stress of the late fees, default interest rates and creditors calling us. Although this was not our intent it will just have to be this way at this time. It will relieve a huge burden on my shoulders. Goin Fer It's Wife

Well I just hope everything works out for you all. I know May is a great company, but there are many other great companies out there as well. Not sure if it would fit your needs, but have you looked into Gordon Trucking Inc (GTI)? They, like May, are an excellent company in that they treat thier drivers like humans and not numbers. The pay and benefits are also decent.

It's Kinda funny, in a non funny way to read all this. You see, I started with May back in 99' and ended it with them in June of 00. Their way of training back then was to get two student fresh out of CDL school and put them in a truck together for 3 weeks and run the truck as a team. That was it! No trainer at all! My partner was trying to pull into a spot at a truck stop in WA and scraped the side of their trailer on our very first run. (We were based out of the Layton, Utah yard, but were flown to Brooks,Oregon to get a truck). We had to figure everything out on our own! The only real training we got was from other very kind-hearted drivers who took the time out of their busy schedules to talk to us. 3 weeks later we were given our own trucks, no questions asked.
After 3 more weeks of running the west coast, I got my first run to Belleview, NJ. I had never been to there before, but I had my maps and my cell phone so I thought I was go to go. I got into NJ on I-80 just in time for 6 o'clock rush hour. Keep in mind that until this time I had only been running west coast and most of that was small towns. I had planned on Stopping at a T/a Off the 287,I believe and Of course I missed my Exit! No problem, I'll just get off at the next exit and flip around and come back. Nope! The next exit was an exit only with no ramp to get back on. 1 hour later after driving around trying to find a safe way to get back on the free-way, scared out of my wits because of the UN-godly amount of traffic and frustrated and exhausted I drove by the exit for the truck stop. At the next exit this time I could see that there were on-ramps.So I exited off and went underneath the interstate and encountered my first T single lane on-ramp with 6 inch concrete curbs separating the lanes, with signs posted at the ends of said medians. Needless to say I did not make the the turn properly and caught a light post with my trailer. It was my fault and I took responsability for it. However there were Plenty of ways to do it correctly, but I didn't know what to look for because I was never trained properly. 6 months later with no further accidents I was still uncomfortable with being in the truck so I went to work at a refinery for 4 years until I felt I was ready to come back Now I have 2 and a half years under my belt with no accidents( at fault, I had a lady hydro-plane into me in LA. She was cited, not me) and no tickets. Common sense plays a huge part of our jobs, but if you don't have good training and you don't realize that Ur going to learn something new every day out here. You missed all the little things that could have saved yours or some1 Else's life. Sorry for the book, But I had really enjoyed this thread and genuinely felt sorry when I heard that he was terminated. But things will get better and I will say a prayer for both of you. Chris
