Alright got the payroll thing worked out so without further delay
here is the money post... Payday is on Wednesday of each week... this is my TAKE HOME PAY for comparison when I was working minimum wage full time in a factory I brought home $300 a week. When on active duty military orders I bring home $506 a week. This is with the same exemptions/dependant status. I am an oregon resident so pay oregon state income tax. your mileage may vary. Week 1 $0 ($20 meal tickets, $100 advance) Week 2 $0 Week 3 $170 (270 minus advance) Week 4 $282 Week 5 $300 Week 6 $220 Week 7 $0 ($200 advance) (actually this paycheck was negative $8 ) Week 8 $60 (268 minus advance and previous paycheck) so in 2 months total I have brought home $1332 Staying in the factory working minimum wage I would have brought home $2,400 or almost twice as much basically my next paycheck should be bigger because central is running out of things to deduct from my pay (hopefully) hmm taking my advances out of the picture I made more in my first three weeks as a trainee than my first week soloing. Keep in mind that all paychecks are delayed a week, so you do something wait a week then get paid wednesday.

You are only looking at the small picture, you need to consider all of it! I just looked at what you posted for wages! Hardly worth taking a risk! Don't listen to the "hot dogs" at work! If you can't log it legal and make money, start thinking of doing something else! That includes looking for another company or saying goodbye to trucking! :? But it's your choice! Good luck!

Yes firebird I feel the same way you do, like I said I run legal just the general attitude at this place is not to. I am not looking for a new company as of yet anyways, I've only got 2 months of experience and no one wants me till I hit 3, and in a month (about the time I hit my 3 month mark) I am being sent to iraq so its kind of pointless to switch companies only to work for them a month.
But on the bright side I will be making livable money again! --- I am at a target distribution center now, this will be my first time getting detention (target told me it will be 18 hours to finish unloading me) then I am picking up a load headed to Chicago IL so I can take my home-time in Madison Wisconsin. my home-time is for the 10th and 11th but the load has a delivery date of the 11th, hmmm dispatcher said get it there early and I can drop it. Also target has a policy of you cannot be in your truck while at the dock.. you have the option to wait in the 'driver lounge' (a single round table and some very uncomfortable chairs, no t.v. or reading materials) or disconnect from the trailer and leave the property. Centrals policy is that if you leave the property you don't get detention. Hmmm coincidence? Anyways I disconnected my trailer and parked my truck defiantly on the property next to a bunch of other trucks. There is nowhere to goto around here anyways and I am tired & broke. Regardless of if I'm on the property or not they are burning my hours which is keeping me from my (pathetic) pay and my hometime so I'm getting my detention darn it.

lol, yeah thats what I'm doing, I was speaking more of the burning daylight sense of it.. 18 hours from when I got here (6 am) puts me at midnight (tomorrow). I could drive 11 hours today but instead will only drive the 15 it took me to get here from the truck stop.
I log all my time off, duty (line 1) if I am in the sleeper or not. Whats the point of line 2 if your not doing the split sleeper thing which is all jacked up now anyways?

Well training pay is 400 a week, taxes takes 100 of that leaving 300
When you go solo they deduct the cost of your first set of load locks, about 80, they deduct a lock kit which is another 80 bucks, they also deduct i think its 20 a week for the first 3 or 4 months for a deposit that they keep like if you abandon the truck or its destroyed when you turn it in other wise you get it back on your final paycheck. also the last week of my pay was for my first week of soloing, I started on monday and the pay period is from thursday to wednesday so i only got 2 trips in, then I sat in utah for 2 days so my next paycheck is going to be for 5 days of work. The first week you don't get hired untill the end of wednesday and your pay starts thursday (when you get on a truck) so you miss the day for the following friday. so the first two wednesdays you don't get payed.. thats why. Because I had military drill I took 4 days of home time after because of where those dates fell I got a $0 paycheck the next week when I was out on the road. One thing you can do is when you fill out your W-4 claim 12 dependents. then after your training is over go back in and claim your usual. then you will get 385 of your check (or so I'm told) doing this for one month will only put you off by $400 at the end of the year but will really help you out those first few weeks. my trainer usually has his trainees do that but forgot about it with me until we where out of utah. I will keep you pasted on how things go over the next month mostly that post was to show what to really expect those first 2 months. The way the recruiters explained it they made it seam like you get $1600 the first 30 days then immediately start getting normal OTR pay, I'm saying expect crappy pay the first 2 months if they are telling you training is one month Also of all the training companies who talked to me, other than i think it was two companies who where the SAME as central, central had the highest training pay (other where 375 and 350 / week) and shorter training period (others where 6 weeks or 8 weeks) |
