I just joined this forum and found much of what yall have written to be very helpfull. I have been applying to as many jobs as I can find for the last 3 weeks but no luck. I was told that I would have a better chance of getting a job if I was there rather then sending in apps from here in TN

Hey guys, I have been lurking for a while here following this thread. I was hoping to make my move to ND earlier this spring, but some things have come up and I only just recently got the rest of my endorsements (besides hazmat I already had). Hey Steve, my current job occasionally takes me through Williston and every guy I have talked to up there tells me NOT to come up until you have a job secured, unless you are prepared to sleep in your vehicle. I have only applied for a few jobs myself, and like you I haven't heard anything back.
Mike, that sounds like a solid job. I Don't have a perfect driving record (2 minor backing incidents no DOT) 5.5 years OTR, regional, flatbed, food delivery, 33 single no wife/kids.. I just want to work, looking to start around the 25th... anyone else have any leads? [email protected]

Boy I sure hate missing out on those choice Driving Gigs popping up from time to time. Hey question for drivers up there right now, Are they letting us work with our home state CDL or do some want you to get a Dakota license? Im hopeing to be heading up in about a month. But may just drive up for kicks an giggles just to see whats happening first hand for my self Anyone fishing?

Im planning on doing the same thing cause I need the money. I know people cry bout sleeping in the back of their truck but hey I drove over the rode in some of the worst conditions up north and I was fine so I think I will be fine in the back seat of the truck for a few weeks or even a month or 2 if I have to.

If i'm wanting to land a job up there in the oil field(s), would you recommend getting a tanker endorsement? I already have hazmat, but no tanker. Also, i don't really want to haul hazmat tanker---like gasoline or other hazmat chemicals in a tanker. Water or milk is ok. And Hazmat in a van is perfectly fine for me.
So is alot of the tanker stuff just water? And if so, do the tanks have baffles? What about non-tanker stuff? |
