A quick search on this site with J B Hunt as the searchwords will give you more information than you want..... 8)

if I was you, i wouldnt read any of the jb stuff on here, just go in there with a positive attitude, do the best you can , listen and ask lots of questions. all companies have good and bad, it all comes down to what you make of it.

So very true, so very true!! I only suggested the search so that the individual could see both sides of the coin..... but, you're right...its best to go with gut feelings, and go with the right attitude, learn the system, and make the best of it.

I've worked for companies that others literally "hated"....and I had no problems. And I've worked for companies that others loved.... I despised them. SO, for each....its their decision to make. But there are still some out there I wouldn't give the time of day to.... 8) But I can't say anything bad about JB....don't really know that much about them. 8)

Wish you the best.

I didn't do so well there, however, things have change since I've been there.

Good luck.

besides the slow trucks, the JB drivers i have run across were generally satisfied.

JB is a big, stable company that plays decently. The main bitch I hear now is it seems to have evolved into a more medium-haul company.

Try to get into their DCS division (Dedicated Contract Service) where you pull for just one customer...such as PPG Industries, Proctor & Gamble, etc. More predictable mileage and alot more trips through the homestead. Just stay away from the retail "Dollar" store type runs, where you lump a floor-loaded 53' in the back of tight strip malls.

JB has been getting away from irregular-route truckload and putting more and more freight on the steel wheels over the years. The common complaints in truckload are lots of short-hauls and sitting around waiting on loads...that's why you see those guys all the time in truckstops, drop-yards, etc twiddling their thumbs for no money.

I've never driven for ole' JB but I've been around the trucking biz for a good while and I've talked to many of their drivers over the years. As a matter of fact, my uncle pulled for JB way back in the day when they had an all cabover fleet after his union gig went under. Needless to say, he didn't last long.

But if JB is what floats your boat, then what the hey...give it a shot. There's certainly worse outfits you can hitch your wagons to.
