2000 Fld 120 rear side marker lights acting up?
Hello all! Thread #1! Thanks in advance for any and all help. Indicators work both sides but markers wont light! Tried several new bulbs, nothing. Called Freightliner for wiring diagram, service person said he knew exactly what was wrong. He also said it was a simple fix but wanted me to bring the truck to shop. Here in Ontario, Canada rules changed so Ministry O.T. won't cite me for those lights. Any way I am about to check wires back to fuse box but thought to join this site. I am hoping somebody either has had this same problem or is or has been in the trade. Again, THANKS !!!

in New Zealand we use led lights every where except head lights no bulb problems on rough roads or ground.use stuff all amps and last forever.all though freightliner probably shake so much it chaff wiring and give you a short.it be cheaper to go to a auto sparkie i would think

Most likely you either have a loose or broken wire or corrosion. In any case, you are not getting fire to the wires. The only way that usually happens is when there is a loose connection or broken wire. I have had corrosion that has also caused problems. If you have plug connections, I would also check those to see if they are tight or have some corrosion. Electrical problems can be aggravating, but are usually simple to repair. It is only a matter of running down where the connection is failing. I usually keep spare connectors and electrical tape in my side box. It can get expensive when you pay a garage to run down electrical problems.

Not sure what you mean by "rear side marker light". I assume you mean the intermediate turn signal which is the one at the rear of the sleeper. Not sure about 2000 model but my 1996 came factory with only signal and ground wires. No marker wire even though light was equipped with 3 terminals. I added my own 3rd wire - just my personal preference - more lights lit up.

I'm with YerDaddy, if you mean the lights at the trailing edge of the cab extenders, one per side, they are just turn signals on my 2001 FLD.
Maybe no problem at all?

Again thanks for all the replies! YerDaddy and LBF you are right on, "intermediate turn signals" at the rear of the sleeper/ cab extender are the lamps in question. I am not losing it, you think?! They used to light up as marker lights and blink as turn signals. One side stopped lighting and the other went in quick succession. That's why I was thinking fuse and not a wiring problem. The fact that Freightliner serviceperson did not question that is curious, now. OK! I am gonna a) check lamps and wires (but kinda sure both or 3), b) call Freightliner and verify my sanity, LOL. Gimme a couple of days will get back with followup.
