2009 freightliner columbia detroit 60 - coolant tank
I leased a 2009 columbia with a detroit 60 in it. I'm pretty sure it sat 3-6 months. I have a couple problems i could seriously use help with.
First the coolant system. It has a coolant tank on the front of the engine (near the radiator/not cab side). It has two caps, one on the side one on top. Side cap has a pressure release.. and cant be removed due to engine bracket. the top one is just.. stuck. I cant twist it off or pull it off i've tried pretty hard. Never driven a truck with this particular setup. How the H*ll does it come off i need to top up the coolant. When i checked the engine the oil was cludgy. I plan on getting it changed asap but i have to deliver a late load to delaware monday am and do not have time before then (maintenance has to approve it). It had moisture in the oil as well. I talked to a mechanic and he was concerned but suggested i just get the oil changed and see how it worked out. We both thought it might just be condensation. At first it didnt have much of a jake and power was a little lower.. after driving it a couple hours that all changed.. the jake is all good and it has a little more power (still low but i was flatbedding 40k through mountains so...). Should i try to get out of this truck? Honestly the power bothers me a bit but ive never driven this setup so i dont know. (only 80 payments averaging like 280ish so... ) The first problem is what is REALLY bothering me and i need help asap. I'm afraid to pry the cap off. |
