Looks like I'll be spending a lot of time in Wyoming this winter. To prepare I bought some air system anti-freeze. Only when I went to put it in the system did I realize, I had no idea where or how much to put in. Any suggestions?

 

Don't.

Maintain your truck and change the air dryer dessicant and purge valve.

 

If you have a functioning air dryer, and drain your air tanks regularly , you will not need the antifreeze.

That being said, if you ever have a trailer that won't take air in the winter a shot in the glad hands will usually take care of the ice. Unless of course the shoes are frozen to the drums.

 

the most common entry point is at the compressor discharge line. the proper point is at the air dryer outlet

 

Drain ALL the tanks every day, and maybe twice a day. And not just a crack to vent the air, open the air valve up and let it completely drain out.

If you have those pull cable ones, take them off and throw them at someone you don't like and replace them with REAL drain cocks. Also, if you have spitter valves take them off and throw them at someone you REALLY dont like and put on proper drain cocks.

The first thing I did on my new International was take off the pull cord drain valves and put on real ones.

As Alan says, service the Air Dryer and you should be good most of the time.

Only as a last resort should you put any kind of Alcohol into your air system, it can dry out the rubbers and cause more problems than it solves.
