the light should be off. it should only come on momentarily when the key is first turned on check brake adjustment & wheel seal leaks

Usually an ABS light has nothing to do with actual brake performance under normal conditions though. The ABS light mostly covers things that would only affect you if the ABS was needed. It is very common to see them on for weeks and months and nobody really gives a darn, or covers them with black tape. Usually pretty easy to fix what is wrong too.

Birken abs is mandatory and causes a failed inspection, that reduces some of the black tape issues ;0)

ABS
If the light usually only comes on at startup and and up to 4-5 MPH. If it comes on, the ABS can partially become disabled or totally. If it is partially, then the ABS will not work as a set, either front or back axles or diagonally. I would asume that it is totally disabled. Check your Wheel speed sensors first. Most likely problem. Have you had your brakes done lately? I commen mistake is the tech hitting the WSS back when working on the brakes. If you know when the ECU is, alot of times there are lights on the outside to tell you where the problem is. There are other ways also like the the ABS light on the dash will blink codes. Sorry for all the mumbling but yes, get it checked out before you forget.

Look to the front brakes for any pulling issues. Check adjustment first, followed by checking for grease contamination or other problems next. Probably does not have anything to do with the ABS light. The ABS light should be out normally and comes on when you have a problem. I can help work you through troubleshooting the ABS if you want, it is not too hard usually.
