Cat C12 Leaks oil in front of engine
I have a freightliner with a Cat C12 engine.
This engine always leaked some oil from the front, but it has gotten worse, now the truck makes puddles on the ground if parked after some driving. Does anyone have any insights on 1) Where it could leak from 2) how can I pin-point the origin of the leak. Due to the fan in front of the engine dirty oil is thrown around everywhere, so the source is hard to find. Thanks Last edited by ichudov; 08-13-2016 at 01:11 AM.

It could be leaking from anywhere! Have you tried power washing the Engine? Get all the oil slop and dirt washed off so you can see better. I doubt the fan is blowing it all over, if your driving down the road, wind does get under the hood and flings oil everywhere. You should be able the track it down sitting still with the truck running and hood open but you have to clean the already existing oil mess and dirt out of there. You could have a leaking gasket on the head or a line that is loose or a line that has a pin hole in it.
