Looking to outfit the drives with new rubber in the next month or so. Been shopping around at the prices and different types, but figured I'd ask you guys for some advice.

Truck is 03 Columbia. 275/80/22.5 is what the door specs are for the truck. The truck currently has 295/70/22.5

I'll most likely go back to whats on the door plate, but wondering where the best place to buy is. I don't pull heavy loads at all. I've never pull more then about 25k or so, including load and trailer.

Any good suggestions? Price isn't an issue, I'm looking for the best deal/tire for fuel mileage and life. Also will be adding Centramatix to ALL axles and doing a 3 axle alignment all at the same time to try and get the most from the new set of rubbers.

The best price on tires that I have found is from a local tire distributor. He has a number of brands but I prefer the Double Coin. They wear well and are much less expensive than the big name tires such as Goodyear. I don't usually buy the major brands due them not standing behind their product. You pay nearly twice as much for a tire that has no warranty. Love's also sells Double Coin but at a higher price. The distributor where I do business ships at no charge if you are east of the Mississippi. If you get close to the TN/GA/AL line you could go by and pick them up yourself.

You can make that out to G-M-A-N. :lol: I have bought tires from them for several years and they have always stood by everything that I purchase. I am glad that you can save some money. Are they going to ship them to you or will you be going by to pick them up?

 

I struck a deal for a set of firestone FD690 plus drive tires for $2400 out the door. I feel compelled to ask your tire guy if he can do better. mind pming me too? thx

 

These tires have a rolling resistance of 161. That is bad, very bad. You will be losing about .5 gallons per mile. Over the course of a year this will translate into about a $5,000.00 loss. It could be more or less because I don't know how many miles you run in a year, what your fuel mileage is or what you pay for fuel. If I had to guess, it will be more.

 

I think for my first year It'll be about 110k (i'd say avarage) i usually get my fuel in NJ, where last it was $2.699/g, and I usually drive @ 61-62 MPH, and get anywhere from 6.7-8.5 depending on how heavy I am. I'm rather happy with the numbers I'm getting for now. I hope to be getting a new truk in the next two years, so I'm not too worried about it. The price was unbeatable at this moment...

 

I thinks this deals should not be made online... you get yourself some research out of the local auto markets and you will definitely find some good cheap stuff out of it!!! best of luck!!!
