around here I've been told the fine is $5000 if they catch any red dye in your fuel system.

Being in a bus, and the type tank "neck" involved, you are probably safe from the tax man, but in those states where they check particulate emissions...like California...you will get hung. Red dyed diesel has a chemical in it, that purposely emits heavier particulates (that is the black smoke) now. Part of the penalty for tax evasion can include losing the vehicle. As far as buying "reefer fuel" at the pumps........more power to you.

California does a fuel check regularly. That is because of all the agriculture in California.

IRC Sec. 6715 (1) shows a minimum fine of $1000 or $10 per gallon, whichever is higher.

Just to let you all know. I do know the fine is more then 85 bucks. I was just saying that to get the hippie to cali in his bus. LOL
