Default Replace in-tank fuel pump with a universal exterior pump?

The in-tank fuel pump on my International truck has been giving me a lot of problems. Want to replace the in-tank fuel pump with an external fuel pump. It would draw from the bottom up and out the top of the saddle tank and pump to the carburetor. Would a 4-7 pound pressure universal fuel pump be large enough?

Service Manager at my local International told me to forget the in-tank electric fuel pump and install an external electric fuel pump. Said to get an electric fuel pump rated for a large cubic inch engine rated at 4-7 pounds pressure. Told me to mount the pump above the saddle tank with a fuel filter in front of the pump. The installation worked extremely well.....no noise or vibration.....very neat installation!

try re-reading your original post... the reason i bluntly answered no is due to your lack of info.

explain to me how someone can assure you that it is ok to replace your transfer pump with an inline pump given THAT amount of info?????

are you referring to a 1954 k-series gasser? or a 2007 multiplexed 7400 with a HT570? there's a possibility that the 2 have different requirements for fuel delivery ; try giving some basic info next time ;0)
