Default Timing????

just today my truck started to "blow-by??" white smoke started to come out of the engine breather tube along with engine oil....the stacks would spool out white smoke if i would decelerate and then accelerate...

had an inframe overhaul in march of '06.

could it be the timing from the timing gears jumping out of place???

when going up hill with a load the truck would have a knocking and ping noise with it, along with white smoke from the stacks...but most of the smoke would come out of the engine breather hose...

i didn't recognize the problem until a driver cb me that i had smoke coming out from my tanks which ofcourse was my breather hose...

anybody had the same symptoms??

almost forgot my engine's a cat 3406e...

Doesn't sound good.

Without looking at it, I'd be thinking blown injector tip. Are you dumping fuel in the oil???

i thought white smoke was a blown head gasket, coolant getting into the combustion chambers.

black smoke is the turbo going bad, but my manifold gauge is still boosting.

i have a feeling it might be internal, piston rings, etc.

more inputs will be helpful...

i've taken it to the shop that overhauled my engine, still got 3 mos. and 20k miles to go before warranty's over...lucky me so far...

Pretty tuff to tell what it is without being right there with the info you gave us.

If this "white smoke" is coming from the breather pipe in amounts to disturb drivers behind you, I would suspect a blown piston. (which may have been caused by a injector tip blown off)

You need to get into a shop ASAP.

Let us know what you find out.

yeah the smoke is pretty bad when i let go of the fuel petal...

i only drove it for about an hour and a half to the shop after the smoke started to come out...

i'm suspecting it is something with the piston areas...

will keep you guys posted when the shop gets back to me....

well the mechanic got back to me...

he pulled the manifold off and one of the cylinder thinging is full of oil #3 if i remember correctly...

looks like a blown piston if u ask me...but luckily it's still under warranty...
the guy says cat will pay for what ever the damage is, but what about the labor??he's trying to talk me into paying the labor....or from $55 to $20 some an hour...he'll work with me...

what do you guys think????

it's still in full waranty and i told him that it wasn't like i neglected the motor...if he tries to make me pay for some portion of the labor what would you say if you was in my situation????
