You don't. The XM radio transmits the signal on a FM frequency that you tune your FM radio to so you can listen.

You need to re-read my post above and do the experiment.

No, Steve---I know how to make my Sportscaster work with my INDASH Radio Receiver....I'm asking a different question on this thread--sorry.

I have a Sony CDX-GT300 radio in-dash( receiver) it's suppose to be XM-ready? so to me that means--hook up the antenna to it--and I'm assuming give the serial number to XM and they'll activate it????????
Otherwise, what good is it(not looking too "Ready" to me-if I got to go out and buy a lot of other junk)

Headborg

I am pretty sure tha XM ready means that you can plug in a XM reciever into it and then the radio reciever plays the xm signal through your sound system.

I have my xm reciever plugged into a FM modulator that plugs into my radio reciever.

It is all behind the dash and you don't have to mess with FM stations going in and out. You just pick one of the fm station that they give you to choose from, tune your radio to that station.

The XM signal is hard wired to your radio reciever so you don't have any problems with other FM stations bleeding into your XM.

My FM modulator was made by Delphi and this was about four years ago when I put this in my truck so I think Delphi's stuff has changed. But some one must still make a FM modulator

I really don't think a FM transmittor is the way to go. Because the XM's sound quality is pretty darn good for music very close to CD quality and you loose to much quality with a FM transmitor. But if you just listen to Talk shows and news it would be just fine.

As far as signal I was having allot of problems loosing signal all the time.
So I talked to the XM guy that travels to allot of the truck shows and trucking events. He asked me my truck make and style of cab. (IH w/sleeper) He said take a piece of scrap sheet metal small enough to fit in one of my over head compartments, stick the little mouse magnet antenna to it and I would be good. I did it and he was right. I have good signal now and only loose it in the normal places.

This only works if you have a fiberglass sleeper roof

Hope this helps a little

Thanks Mike

Yeah, thanks mike....(weird I hear a golf putt in background and a croud clapping--maybe that commercial for them "Soft- Tabs" is still going thru my brain)

I did some other research- and found that term "XM Ready" is being called
deceptive advertising--- it only means your receiver will display the meta tag
data(song & channel data) and there's controls on the radio for tuning-channel changing etc.

Yeah-- you're right you still have to go out and buy more than just an antanna- It's not my truck-- so maybe I'll just stick with the "stick to the window" models.
