Our drivers have the exclusive privilege of interacting with our school-based customers, placing books in the hands of kids and extending our mission of inspiring lifelong learning in children everywhere! Due to continued growth, we are currently accepting applications for Local Truck Driver CDL A Route Delivery Drivers to work in our distribution warehouse in West Chester, OH.

Compensation

• Average annual salary $55,000 - $60,000; work 8-9 months out of the year
• Hourly wage of $37.00 per hour
• Up to $3K safety bonus, paid out 3 times, annually, if qualified
• Overtime paid after 40 hours per week
• Typically work 50-60 hours per week in high season
• Bi-Weekly paychecks

Benefits - No benefits provided. Increased pay available to offset personal costs of benefits.

Work Schedule

• Monday-Friday, no weekends
• Start times vary, typically between 3:30am-6am; work until work is completed, usually 12-14 hours per day
• Make 6-8 stops per day on average
• Potential of 1 overnight per week (stay in hotel with $50 per diem)
• Route delivery, driver unload using lift-gate
• Touch freight, push/pull 300 pound cases of books up and down handicap ramps
• Inside delivery into elementary school storage rooms and/or libraries
• Summer break: June through August; Winter break: mid-December through mid-January
  • May be eligible for unemployment benefits, per state unemployment laws
  • Earn return-to-work incentives of $1,000-$2,000 following each break
  • Earn approximately 90% of regular salary potential with state unemployment and return-to-work incentives during breaks

Responsibilities

• Multiple-stop deliveries in 28 foot and/or 40 foot tractor-trailer with lift gate
• Backing in and out of docks
• Drive CDL trucks to transport materials and equipment to specific route destinations
• Provide excellent customer service
• Checking mechanical aspects of the vehicle
• Reporting maintenance/repair issues on tractors and trailers
• Excellent customer service skills: communication with customers and being the "face of the company"

Requirements

• 1 year local CDL A route delivery, experience with touch freight and/or food industry delivery is preferred
• Clean criminal background required; delivering to schools
• Current DOT Medical Card and be able to pass pre-employment DOT drug and criminal background screen
• Hold a valid Class A Commercial Driver´s License, with air brakes endorsement and NO MANUAL RESTRICTION
• Be in excellent physical condition and be able to stand, sit, kneel, bend, lift, push, pull for extended periods and have normal use of senses
• Able to work in all types of environments and under difficult conditions; hot, cold, dust, indoors, outdoors
• Legally eligible to work in the U.S.
• Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English
• Must pass pre-hire drug screen and physical
• Be able to push and/or pull up to 300 pounds with no assistance
