Company has been in business for over 60 years providing fresh, organic, cage-free eggs to local grocery stores and other end users. Due to continued growth we are currently accepting applications for a Maintenance Mechanics - All Experience Levels! to work in our Plankinton, SD facility. Candidates with experience in building maintenance, forklift repair technician, production maintenance, equipment maintenance, or diesel mechanic or trailer technician experience are encouraged to apply. Food production facility experience is a plus but not required. Salaries are negotiable and based on knowledge and experience of applicants.

Compensation

  • Average annual salary around $55,000- $75,000 per year, which includes:
    • Pay is $20.00-$25.00/hour, based on experience
    • Typical work week is 40-45 hours per week
    • Bi-weekly paychecks

Work Schedule

  • Monday-Friday, some weekends as needed

  • Typical work schedule 6:00am-2pm/3pm, work until work is completed
  • Schedule flexibility may be available based on candidate's needs.
  • Work schedule may change based on business needs; must be flexible with work schedule
  • Candidates must have own tools.

Responsibilities/Qualifications (Must have one or more of the following qualifications):

Maintenance Mechanic, Maintenance Technician

  • Troubleshoot motor controls, drives, and PLC systems
  • Perform and manage preventative maintenance on production equipment
  • Set-up, calibration, installation of new production equipment
  • Order parts, inventory maintenance of parts needed for maintenance/repairs
  • Concise record-keeping of calibration, repairs, maintenance, etc.
  • Maintaining and repairing motors, drives, PLC systems, foodservice production equipment: baggers, washers, slicers, etc.

Building Maintenance

  • Conducting regular inspections of areas of the building to determine where repairs or attention is needed
  • Attending to the routine maintenance of office electrical, heating and air conditioning systems
  • Ensuring regular maintenance of any machinery used in the building
  • Assembling furniture or equipment
  • Ordering supplies and maintaining an inventory of frequently used parts and equipment
  • Frequent use of use basic hand tools, portable power tools, stationary power tools, and motor vehicles

Forklift Repair Maintenance

  • Assist in repairing and maintaining warehouse power equipment: Reach truck, pallet jack, forklift, etc.
  • Maintain and follow regular maintenance schedules
  • Basic knowledge of motor controls, fluid replacement, minor electrical repairs, etc.
  • General tool operation
  • Preventative Maintenance: Watering batteries, lubrication, greasing bearings, fluid changing (hydraulic, oil), general electrical knowledge

Diesel Mechanics, Diesel Technician, Trailer Mechanic, Trailer Technician

  • Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
  • Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.
  • Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
  • Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
  • Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
  • Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
  • Familiar with FHWA (Federal Highway Administration) and FMCSR (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations)/BIT (Basic Inspection of Terminals) inspections
  • Must have a valid and current driver's license; CDL (Preferred, or willing to obtain upon hire)
  • Knowledge of air, electronic, braking, hydraulics, engine repairs and suspension systems as well as general mechanical operation and/or light body repair
  • Must be able to lift 70 pounds (mainly, tires)
