Diesel and Trailer Apprentice Mechanic

Company has been in business for over 60 years providing fresh, organic, cage-free eggs to local grocery stores and other end users. Due to continued growth we are currently accepting applications for an Diesel and Trailer Apprentice Mechanic to work in our BRAND NEW MAINTENANCE FACILITY within 45 miles of Stanwood, WA facility.
Compensation
- Pay is $25.00-$29.00 per hour based on experience
- Overtime paid after 40 hours per week
- Typical work week is 40-45 hours per week

Work Schedule
- Monday- Friday or Sunday-Thursday
- 7:00am-3:30pm with possibilities of covering swing shift 3:00pm-11:30pm, as needed
- Schedule flexibility may be available based on candidate's needs.
- Work schedule may change based on business needs; must be flexible with work schedule
Responsibilities
- Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform preventative and as-needed maintenance of semi trailers
- Interpret and follow work orders and technical manuals
- Maintain schedules and document completed preventative maintenance and repairs
- Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance; ensure work meets manufacturer's specifications according to FMCSR (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations)
- Maintaining parts and yard organization (with direction from operations management) to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
- Work on any other duties around the shop.
Requirements
- General knowledge of automotive maintenance preferred
- Knowledge of air, electronic, braking, and suspension systems as well as general mechanical operation and/or light body repair preferred
- Experience using hand tools and/or automotive repair equipment
- Willingness to learn how to perform maintenance on CDL tractor trailers and diesel engines
- Knowledge or experience maintaining and/or repairing CDL tractor trailers a plus
- Knowledge or experience maintaining and/or repairing air-brakes is a plus
- Familiar with FHWA (Federal Highway Administration) and FMCSR (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations)/BIT (Basic Inspection of Terminals) inspections is a plus
- High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
- Must be able to lift 70 pounds (mainly, tires)
- Must have own tools
- Must have a valid and current US driver's license; no CDL required
