Q. Tell us about Con-way Truckload.

A. Con-way Truckload is a subsidiary of Con-way Inc.
We provide expedited team-based full-truckload transportation
services across the United States. We primarily serve the
transcontinental line-haul needs of sister company Con-way Freight the
industry’s leading less-than-truckload (LTL) company.

Con-way Truckload is based in Memphis Tenn. and
operates a modern efficient fleet of more than 1200 pieces of
equipment. We currently employ approximately 250 driver teams and more
than 50 owner-operator teams.

Q. How large a role does the seasonality aspect of trucking play in driver turnover?

A. As most full-truckload drivers are aware freight
volumes dip in the first quarter before the spring and immediately
following the holiday season. Unfortunately when freight is soft
drivers get fewer miles which can really lower their paychecks. Soft
freight environments affect the entire industry so it makes great
sense for drivers to work for companies that can provide optimal
mileage and steady paychecks.

Q. What can Con-way Truckload offer its drivers that other carriers can’t?

A. Con-way Truckload is unique because our freight
volume remains steady during times that are typically challenging for
other carriers. In fact it’s steady year round. We are able to absorb
the impact because of the steady freight levels we move on behalf of
Con-way Freight — our own LTL operation. We’re able to keep our trucks
on the road and guard our driver teams’ miles and paychecks —
providing them financial stability.

Q. What type of driver is Con-way Truckload looking for?

A. Con-way Truckload’s growth has created great
opportunities for drivers. We only hire experienced team drivers for
the purposes of providing line-haul service for Con-way LTL. The
average length of haul is 1750 miles.

Con-way’s culture is one that is highly focused
on the driver. We provide an excellent working environment and a very
competitive pay/benefits package that stacks up with the best in the
business.

Q. Please give us an overview of the benefits Con-way Truckload offers its drivers.

A. This year Con-way Truckload began paying its
drivers based on “practical miles.” We are one of few trucking
companies to adopt this payment practice. The current industry standard
is to pay the “shortest route” — an estimate of mileage based on routes
commonly inaccessible to commercial vehicles.

With practical miles Con-way Truckload drivers are
paid for mileage that is more representative of what they actually
drive — which translates to larger paychecks.

Plus Con-way Truckload is currently offering team
drivers a $3000 sign-on bonus. Each member of the team receives $1500
which is paid over a 16-week period with the first amount paid at
orientation. We’re giving the bonus to help drivers while they’re
between jobs.

In addition we offer our qualifying drivers and
employees the opportunity to benefit from our annual Incentive
Compensation Plan (ICP). This is a company-wide reward initiative that
employees ranging from the newest driver to the most senior company
executive can realize if the company achieves its financial goals in
sales revenue fuel efficiency and other measures.

Under the program first-year drivers are eligible
for a four percent bonus. For each year they remain with the company
their potential ICP pay increases by one percent for a maximum of seven
percent. Drivers must be employed through year end to be eligible.

Q. Are there any non-compensation benefits that Con-way Truckload offers its drivers?

A. Safety is a core value at Con-way Truckload and
we have selected only equipment that is known for safety and comfort.
Our tractor of choice is the 2006-2007 Volvo which for those who don’t
know is an all-steel cab that offers exceptional comfort and a smooth
quiet ride with front air-ride suspension. Our trailers also come with
electric landing gear so drivers don’t need to manually lower dolly
legs.

All of our tractors feature an installed inverter
and a refrigerator. Most carriers don’t provide these creature comforts
and some don’t even allow the use of inverters. Trucks are also
outfitted with XM radio equipment — and the activation fee is on us.

Pets are allowed too — a rarity in this industry.
Drivers can travel with dogs and cats only with no limit on size. Most
carriers don’t allow pets and if they do charge extremely high pet
deposits.

Q. How can interested drivers contact Con-way Truckload to inquire about available positions?

A. We encourage experienced team drivers to visit our Web site for more information.
The address is www.con-way.com/predictable. They can also call 1-800-work-4-us (967-5487).
