WH Transportation Announces its new Dispatch System

Effective August 27 2007 WH will be implementing a new dispatch system which will better serve its drivers. At present as a driver WH dispatches from one geographic area to the next and when a driver is empty in that area it is up to the customer service rep for that area to find the driver’s next load. While this system has worked well in the past WH has grown to where it has become very difficult for all of the CSR’s to know each individual driver’s wants and needs. In addition they are trying to balance servicing each account to keep the customer happy and cover the freight that a customer may have for any given day. All of this takes a good deal of time and planning which makes it difficult to look at and consider all the details which includes preplanning the next load for each driver.  At times that has meant the driver has had to wait for a dispatch and wasn’t making money.

For these reasons we are making the change to a system where each driver will be assigned to a driver manager. His/her function will be to work closely with the driver to make sure the driver gets miles is preplanned as much as possible monitors hours of service delivery schedules driver time off and so on. We want our drivers to spend productive time on the road for profitability of both the driver and the company.  The CSR’s will be responsible to work with the customer’s  book and plan the loads while communicating with the driver manager to get the best possible load we can get for each individual driver and providing the most miles home time and overall job satisfaction.

We believe that this is a progressive move in our efforts to continuously improve our company’s driver satisfaction levels and customer service levels.  Our drivers are the lifeblood of what we do and we feel that this change will make life on the road and put more money in their pockets.
