BRADFORD-Dick Lavy Trucking held it annual Truck Rodeo Saturday July 23rd. Drivers attend quarterly safety meetings and participate in a truck a rodeo. The rodeo gives drivers an opportunity to practice everything they learn during the safety meetings. The annual event is not only challenging but has proven to be a lot of fun for those participating. This years Rodeo was the largest in attendance to date! A cookout was enjoyed by employees of Dick Lavy Trucking along with family & friends.
Over thirty drivers participated in this year Rodeo. Taking home first place was Darran Conley. Conley has been employed with Dick Lavy Trucking a little over one month! Jeff Gast General Manager of Dayton Freightliner donated the first place prize which consisted of a 32? TV. Dick Lavy Trucking is very proud to have new drivers like Darran. It?s very rewarding to know you hire quality drivers.
Second place went to Ron Hall who has been with Dick Lavy over a year Hall took home a propane grill donated by Jim Bridgeman of Mid-America Tire.
Third place went to Veteran driver Warren Webb who has been with Dick Lavy for sixteen years. Webb took home a 20? TV/DVD combo donated by Todd Phelan from Phelan Insurance Agency.
This year?s rodeo was set up different from the previous. Lavy decide to add another station as well as change a few around to make them even more challenging than the past. Along with the driving course the drivers are required to perform a pre-trip inspection on the equipment. The rodeo is not only fun for drivers but is a true test of skill and safety.
Lavy who has 200 units on the road at this time employs drivers from Ohio Pennsylvania New Jersey Indiana Texas Illinois Florida and Georgia.
This rodeo could not have been possible without all the help and donations that we receive from our vendors and judges that volunteer. We had 21 vendors this year participate in donations for door prizes.
