Eagan MN.—Nov. 20 2006 —  Transport Corporation of America Inc. (“Transport America”) announced today that Scott C. Arves will become President and Chief Executive Officer of the corporation effective January 1 2007 assuming these duties from Michael J. Paxton who will become Chairman of the board of directors.

Mr. Arves age 50 was until July 2006 the President of the Transportation Sector for Schneider National Inc. the nation’s largest truckload carrier.  He had served in that capacity with responsibility for all Schneider’s trucking and intermodal business for more than six years.  Prior to becoming President Mr. Arves served in positions of increasing responsibility in his twenty-seven year career with Schneider.  Commenting on his decision to become CEO of Transport America Scott Arves noted: “I was attracted to Transport America based on its solid reputation for service the quality and safety performance of its driver force and the strong positive company culture created by Mike Paxton and his team over the past few years.  I look forward to working with this talented leadership group to provide an array of highest-quality transportation solutions for our customers and to grow Transport America through our customers’ successes.”

Mr. Paxton a former independent Board member who became CEO of Transport America in 2001 led the Eagan MN-based truckload motor carrier back to financial health and operating stability and was a leader in the group that acquired Transport America in a public-to-private transaction in early 2006.

Van Hawn partner of Goldner Hawn the Minneapolis-based private equity firm that helped take Transport America private said:  “Under Mike Paxton’s leadership Transport America successfully weathered the difficult economic environment of 2001-2003 and navigated the transition from public ownership to private ownership in February of this year.  Transport America is already benefiting from the longer-term thinking possible for managers of private businesses.  Scott Arves with a lifetime of top level transportation management experience at Schneider National is the ideal leader to continue the work of building a major transportation company on the solid base established by Mike Paxton and his team over the past five years.

We are thrilled to have such a highly respected transportation executive join Transport America.  We are particularly pleased that Transport America and Scott Arves will continue to benefit from Mike Paxton’s experience and advice through Mike’s service as Chairman of the Board.  Mike has done an excellent job at Transport America and we honor his service.”
