Default beating a speeding ticket

well, i got nailed

coming down the final grade on I-5 north freeway.
it goes to 45 then 35 mph.

drifing along, my speed was up to 63. i didnt realize i had just crossed into the 45 zone. theres CHP waiting there for me. about a half mile or so past the 45mph signs

i get a ticket , the full 63+ in a 45
22407vc

anyone ever used a lawyer to beat a ticket like that.

i'll be calling one. how much should this cost me in fees.
can i actually beat this?

til now, i had a perfect 10 year MVR

thanks, mike

Could be considered a trap in some states but more than likely your toast. Had you not been cruising along picking up speed and been trying to slow down, you might have been let off.

There are companies who work with this type of thing. I believe one is called Road Law. Some set up booths at truck stops. You can often find them at a TA or some Petro's. They charge a fee for the referral, as I recall. The way some of them work is that they refer you to a lawyer in a particular area. They will usually plead it down to a non-moving violation or something that will not affect your CDL. You may check some of the magazines available in the truck stops or check on the OOIDA website. There was a time when California offered a course you could take which would allow you to not have a ticket appear on your CDL. That is not supposed to be the case anymore. I would find a lawyer to try and work something out. Being that much over the posted speed could cost you a job.

Must of been coming down the grapevine. Not just going over the posted speed limit, but also exceding what most CHP will allow in the 55 zones. I see it might be hard to get this one taken care of.

Don't know if it is true or not but a trucker I was running with last week is from California, he says that if you over pay your ticket by just $1.00, California will issue you a refund check. Throw the check in the trash and don't cash it. Their computer won't allow the points or the ticket to show up on your record until the transaction is complete and without cashing the ticket it will not be completed.

Like I say, don't know if it is true but if you do decide to pay it, won't hurt anything to try!!!

I beat a speeding ticket once by simply taking it to court and the officer never showed up so it was thrown out. I probably got lucky. This was for 5 mph over though.

Sounds like a lunch counter story. Too many "why" questions.

Why would anyone have even thought to attempt it?

Why would the state of CA allow a loophole like that to even exist, because they would obviously know about it?

And if it was true, why would CA allow so many incomplete transactions to remain in their computer system?

Anyone else notice that this topic and only this topic shows an ad for beating a speeding ticket at the very bottom of the screen.

No wonder CAD has slowed 10 times the speed it use to be at.

That's Google Ads for you. The adbots read for keywords and appropriate ads pop up. At least we don't have to worry about the ones down the right side of the page. Those were definitely a pain in the patookas.

heard about this same loop hole before but it was Texas or maybe Ohio. I think the OP should try it and let us know if it works
