98 volvo no ac

Default 98 volvo no ac

i have no ac!pump turns freely system is full of freon[checked with guages]crossed over pressure switch still nothing.i was told there might be a nother sensor i dont know.any suggestions?all fuses good dash switches seem to be working also.thanks

Does the compressor engage when you turn on the AC switch?

no the compressor doesnt enguage.i thought abought the clutch also but think it is electrical.

Could be a bad clutch. Unplug the AC clutch connector and use a multimeter or circuit checker to check to see if it's getting power when the AC switch is on. If it's getting power, then you have a bad AC clutch. If it's not getting power, then something else is wrong.

more then likely its the AC computer. That's what went on mine.

It's above the windshield washer filler neck. You can't miss it.

Run the engine, turn the AC on. Now go look at the AC computer. There's several different codes, mine was 3 red flashes, indicating AC clutch.

In fact, it was the computer itself.

Went to a junkyard, got a new one, and has worked fine ever since.

the green light is flashing indicating system low voltage?any ideas i hate to take this thing to a dealer and pay 85$ hr to get it fixed.

Here's a simple trick you can try-

With engine running and AC on, take a large box-end wrench and tap the outside plate on the AC clutch. BE CAREFUL - don't get wanged by the engine fan! Observe while you tap, see if it tries to engage...

update.i run wires to the clutch and now it worksput them on a toggle switch i think this will hold me over till i get in.where i can afford to have it worked on.thanks for the help guys

Well, that's one way to do it. However, I would proceed with caution. There is no way to regulate the high-side pressure which could cause serious damage if your not careful.
