Marked in pre trip inspection - got violation
Hi,
Maybe my question may seem dumb for somebody, but.. Then doing pre trip i noticed that tail light is inoperative and put a note on a pre trip inspection. on a way to fix it, got level II inspection and a violation for that inoperative light. Is that legal? And if is it, why do we need to do a pre trip and make notes?.. Thank you!

^^ and the simple fact that it was noted proved that you knew about the defect, and drove anyway.
