I been there (Az) once...now all i do is eastern USA runs
You should be able to go out west often. Bring it up to your fleet manger and if they don't change anything bug them a little more. I told my fleet manager a long time ago that I know that the shorter runs need to be done too but each time I come out for my 25-35 days I'd like to get out west at least once if not twice. We have plenty of loads that drivers should be able to go out west no problem. Squeaky wheel gets the grease when it comes to that. 8) 8)

Midnightlighting,

I have two cousins who have been working for Marten for an average of 15 yrs.

Might see you on Hwy 60 in Minnesota, or Iowa.

Best of luck with Marten!

they are actually paying you ....you may want to throw up.

I'm with you there. That's one issue I have over here. I too use a mapping program and figure out all the different routes and which one is the best to take. Even with paying attention to that I still end up with a good bit of unpaid miles. Out of that 34,xxx paid miles I ran last quarter I had a little over 1200 miles over and above that were unpaid, about 3.5% which is pretty good but unwanted. 8) 8)

I had the same thing happen to me out in the middle of Wyoming. Got a msg from mondovi saying check your reefer temp. it was then i noticed a small silver box near the glad hands that said something to the effect of Trailer Tracs. This was a couple of years ago.Haven't seen the those boxes on trailers since. Plus on the new Omni Viso QCs the new trucks are getting, there is a yet to be activated program (At least on mine
)on there called trailer tracs. So the technolodgy is out there. It's just a matter of if a company wants to subscribe to it from QualComm.

As for rail trailers, i believe there is something with in the engine compartment, that Mondovi can wirelessly connect to to check out the system. Mayby software in the brain of the control panel.

As for getting west.
I'm on the other end.
I live out in Nevada, load all the time out of Cen. CA. and east i go 80 or 40. Then stuck in the midwest circle jerk till it's time to come home in 3 weeks.
The northwest? Been there 3 times in 3 years
Florida,Maine,New Hampshire , Vermont? Are they part of our country, cause i never get there.

My big gripe is, i live 60 miles from a Walmart and 45 miles from Kmart DCs. When it time to go home and i'm out in Iowa, West Branch has that P/G huge dist center out there,do you think i can get one of the loads from there going west to Reno Sparks, Mcarrin(walmart) H+ll no, get sent east to load, then sent west via Texas or Arizona, then sent to Carson, then back to Stockton.
Only had 3 loads direct to Reno/ Sparks/ Mccarrin,NV. Some reason my travel agent thinks it's cool for me to bobtail 177 miles each way on home time, from Stockton.
